We have all received greeting cards from family and friends throughout our life. Certain cards we want to hang on to for various reasons. For me, I have cards from my Aunt and Grandmother who have passed on. I love reading their sentiments and seeing their hand writing- again. I look at the cards and a relive my times with them. There is no way I am throwing out those cards! You too? But, where do we keep them? There are so many and maybe you are like me- so little storage space?!
Keeping cards is important to me. It became more important when it came time for my Mom and Dad to downsize their living space. They held on to so many things we call vintage now. Rightly so. They are true treasures.
We were surrounded with bags, boxes and things to pack and throw out. Mom called me over and hands me a clear bag (like those you buy a bed comforter set in) full of greeting cards! Then, with a heavy heart she said, "Well, I guess you can trash these too. I can't hold on to them anymore. I don't have the space."
Her sadness yanked hard on my heart strings. "But Mom," I argued, "There must be something we can do!"
She looked at the cards then me and shrugged. Her sad eyes got me.
Would you believe I prayed for God to give me an idea? I did. I knew He would too because He tells me in the Bible that what is important to me, is important to Him. (Pretty cool, yes?)
"Mom," I said confidently, I will take them. To this she agreed. At the time, I had no clue what I would do with them accept treasure them and wait for God to birth an idea. Which He did. Today, I am sharing it with you.
